Candle Care Guide

Learn here how to take care of your new candles.

While our candles are made from premium, 100% natural waxes, have been designed and tested to ensure maximum quality, scent throw and burning time, there are a few things to keep in mind to get the best out of your experience with Makaba candles.

Best Burning Experience

1. If necessary, trim the wick down to 0,5 - 1 cm.

2. When lighting for the first time: Let the candle burn until the whole surface has melt (this might take up to two hours or more).

This helps prevent tunneling, which you see when the flame is eating away at only the center of the candle.

3. Always let your candles burn for approximately 2-4 hours at a time. This ensures a safe and long burn time, without tunneling or sooting.

4. Again, if necessary- trim the wick back down to 0,5 - 1 cm. This is a normal step of caring for your candle and keeping it in best condition.

5. Don't let the candle burn down until is goes out by itself. Stop usage of your candle at about the last 1cm of wax that's in the glass.

More Safety Tips

1. Never burn your candle close to anything that catches fire easily, like paper, curtains, next to your bed or similar locations. Make sure to have at least 1m of safety radius around your candle

2. Place your candle on a flat surface that is heat-resistant.

3. Don't place your candle where it's extremely windy.

4. Extinguish your candle if the flame starts flickering too much or builds up too much soot.

Let the wax solidify, trim the wick and start again.

5. ALWAYS extinguish all your candles when leaving the room or home. Even if you just lit them and suddenly have to leave. NEVER leave burning candles unattended.
